...And I’m not just talking about the way my parents
spoiled me, or all of the attention I got growing up. When I was born, I got
the gift of having not one, but three much older siblings. By the time I
finished my junior year of High School, all three of my siblings were married,
I had a two-year-old niece and my sister-in-law was pregnant with their second.
Now, going into my junior year of college all three of my siblings have decided
to add little plus ones to the family. AND I LOVE IT!! I can’t get enough of
the babies… seriously. There are going to be four little ones by January. So,
when I say being the youngest has its benefits… I mean it. I get to play with
kids all the time. I have watched them transition from crawling into their first
steps, joined in the struggle of parenthood, in the smallest sense of that
phrase of course as my siblings raise these tiny, tiny extensions of
themselves. It’s a gift. To watch them laugh, to listen to Katelyn sing her
favorite songs (her first one was “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga at age 3), to
listening and waiting as Kyle learns to put full sentences together. I love
catching every funny moment, every moment of adventure, every sweet hug that
Katelyn and Kyle share, every smile they give each other, every moment that
won’t last but can be turned into a memory through a picture. You just never
can get enough of kids – their innocence and eagerness to figure out this World
we live in is incomprehensible for us, as adults, who have been exposed to more
than any child should at such a young age. Enjoy my little models …I mean my
niece and nephew :)
