Snowy Days

Ye of little faith.... here is to everyone who thought we wouldn't get a flake of snow! We got millions (I think...)! It didn't really accumulate to that much. But hey, we got delays and school cancellations all across Virginia today!! At least WE (my roommates in the Birdhouse) were excited about it!

This is the view from my house in Fredericksburg (wowwy, I love love love this view - this picture doesn't do it much justice)

How much snow did you get?! Send pictures of this beautiful, snowy day!

Enjoy your day :)

Meeting the littlest one...

Friends, I have some MORE exciting news...

9 days. That is how many days late the newest addition to our ever-growing family was. Born at 9 PM to my beautiful sister and my super-awesome brother-in-law, was Hannah Kimberly Grabau!!!! We (her grandparents, all of her aunts/uncles, and all of her cousins) love her SO much!! She looks so much like her daddy, but it's obvious that she has her momma's sweet and gentle heart. Those 9 days were not easy for anyone! All we could do was wait. and pray. and wait. and pray more. We prayed so much that God would reveal his plan during this period of waiting, and surely He delivered. He delivered to our big family, a (not so little!) angel who is so loved by friends & family but even more so by her parents, who are bonded together by an awesome eternal & enduring love. I haven't stopped thinking about her since the moment we found out she was born, healthy and happy. Her name 'Hannah Kimberly' rings in my ears in the most harmonic way, and her face literally screams of beauty.

Welcome to the world Hannah Kimberly. You are way beyond loved, I cannot wait to be your biggest fan in life!!

xoxo,
Auntie Kimmie

How To Spend Your Winter Break Well...

I'm in college still. That gives me one entire month of freedom every winter to do basically anything I want. Usually though, that month is mixed with a few birthdays, some family get-togethers, and a lot of Netflix. Like...a LOT of Netflix. So for all of you wondering how I spent my Winter Break... this is it. I like to spend my time efficiently. Get a lot done, plan out my life (what I am able to plan), tap into my outlets and relax, sleep in a lot, and spend time with the people I love. Tapping into those outlets are the best things for me to relax. I like to make the things I find on Pinterest that are in my "to do later" list, re-organize my room and clean in out, re-decorate my room with new magazine clippings, sip on coffee while journaling and/or reading the books I started over the summer.

Break is called break for a reason. It is time for rest, a break from things (basically I mean, school) you're stuck doing for months at a time. What are the things you don't EVER get to do while you're busy in school, or busy with work?

For me, it's all those things I listed above... and more.

1. One of the first things I did was go to New York. I traveled, I left the places I had been and I explored a little in a big city and saw things I had never seen before.

So, we went to the Big Apple! And I didn't bring my camera, I wanted to be able to relax and enjoy my time without wanting to take a picture every two minutes.

We ice skated at Bryant Park (for cheap!) and we ate dinner at the Bryant Park Grill. Favorite part of our day. AND the best part: we megabussed it up there from Baltimore and our tickets were super cheap. We slept on the bus the whole way back, it was really convenient. I also went to PA, Annapolis, and Washington, D.C.!

2. I did a lot of shopping around Christmas time. But this year, it was actually fun. I spent time by myself, took a few drives, and enjoyed having some time to myself! I had time to be creative with gifts this year, too. It was really fun shopping for other people (and myself...). NOTE: After-Christmas sales are incredible. Maybe we should all consider buying each other gifts after Christmas next year, instead of before? Anybody, anybody?

3. This was my average morning.

I wrote in my new journal (usually notes to people), and I finished books!!! These are things I don't ever, ever have time to do during the semester. Coffee, journal, book, perfect view. Mmm, thank you mom and dad for putting the couch in a comfortable spot.

 4. I actually made things!!
I saw this one on Pinterest,
and tried my hand at being crafty.

I bought most things from Michaels:
- 10x10 Canvas: $8.95
- 2 yards of ribbon: $3.00
- Paint Tape: You might be able to find this in your house
- Paint (any color, I used black): You might find this also in your house
- Scissors

5
. I spent time with my family. My baby nephews, my niece, and my soon-to-be-mommy sister :) These were special moments, times I definitely don't get when I am at school. Andrew and I got to spend a lot of time with each of our families. We even went on double dates with each of our siblings, score! And I got to snuggle with my pup, Charlie. He is just the sweetest little dog. Oh, and don't forget about Photo-booth...

Our family seriously just keeps growing,
my sister is due with her first any day now!!

6. Go see a new movie. Save some money by going to a Matinee show and have a date night with a friend! I saw Skyfall & The Hobbit... they were both AWESOME. Definitely worth seeing both in the theatre.

7. I worked out. Haha. Oh boy... something else I never do when I'm in school. For those of you who can manage a consistent work out schedule, I admire you and wish I had your discipline. Great way to release that stress from the semester, though.

8. I made GOALS for myself, and for my business! If you don't have a business to make goals for... that's okay! Make goals for yourself for this upcoming year. What do you want to get better at, more disciplined with? I love lists, so this is always a fun one for me.

9. Cookies, cookies, and more cookies. I ate them, and I baked them. Then I ate some more... so I had to bake more. These are my absolute favorite... find the recipe here!

10. I got things done that I have been working on for over a year.. like THIS BAD BOY!!! My website! Thanks to Alex at Otirb Productions for all of his help, together we built a website! Can't wait to show you guys. Get excited.

Overall, I would deem this a pretty successful Winter Break. It's one of my favorite times of the year between Christmas, New Years, and all of the family birthdays!! I hope you had an awesome Winter Break, too!

Looking Back Now,

I had absolutely no idea what this year would bring for me, what it would reveal, what doors would open, which would shut. Now that the year is over, I still am not quite sure the answers to those questions. I look back, and this is what I know: I know that I love my job more than ever, no matter how many trials I might go through. I know this is what I want to do but that it is going to take a LOT of effort to get there... and I know I don't need to go fast to get there. I know that I have a huge support team from not only my family but my incredible friends. And I know that there are people who believe in me.

Here is what I also know... I can't wait for what this year has in store for me. A LOT of learning and a lot of practice (I HOPE!)! And I am seriously, seriously excited. For a quick recap here, I want to post some of my favorite pictures from this year. Thank you for all of your support, for reading the blog, and for helping me continue to move forward.

Goals for 2013:
