How To Spend Your Winter Break Well...

I'm in college still. That gives me one entire month of freedom every winter to do basically anything I want. Usually though, that month is mixed with a few birthdays, some family get-togethers, and a lot of Netflix. Like...a LOT of Netflix. So for all of you wondering how I spent my Winter Break... this is it. I like to spend my time efficiently. Get a lot done, plan out my life (what I am able to plan), tap into my outlets and relax, sleep in a lot, and spend time with the people I love. Tapping into those outlets are the best things for me to relax. I like to make the things I find on Pinterest that are in my "to do later" list, re-organize my room and clean in out, re-decorate my room with new magazine clippings, sip on coffee while journaling and/or reading the books I started over the summer.

Break is called break for a reason. It is time for rest, a break from things (basically I mean, school) you're stuck doing for months at a time. What are the things you don't EVER get to do while you're busy in school, or busy with work?

For me, it's all those things I listed above... and more.

1. One of the first things I did was go to New York. I traveled, I left the places I had been and I explored a little in a big city and saw things I had never seen before.

So, we went to the Big Apple! And I didn't bring my camera, I wanted to be able to relax and enjoy my time without wanting to take a picture every two minutes.

We ice skated at Bryant Park (for cheap!) and we ate dinner at the Bryant Park Grill. Favorite part of our day. AND the best part: we megabussed it up there from Baltimore and our tickets were super cheap. We slept on the bus the whole way back, it was really convenient. I also went to PA, Annapolis, and Washington, D.C.!

2. I did a lot of shopping around Christmas time. But this year, it was actually fun. I spent time by myself, took a few drives, and enjoyed having some time to myself! I had time to be creative with gifts this year, too. It was really fun shopping for other people (and myself...). NOTE: After-Christmas sales are incredible. Maybe we should all consider buying each other gifts after Christmas next year, instead of before? Anybody, anybody?

3. This was my average morning.

I wrote in my new journal (usually notes to people), and I finished books!!! These are things I don't ever, ever have time to do during the semester. Coffee, journal, book, perfect view. Mmm, thank you mom and dad for putting the couch in a comfortable spot.

 4. I actually made things!!
I saw this one on Pinterest,
and tried my hand at being crafty.

I bought most things from Michaels:
- 10x10 Canvas: $8.95
- 2 yards of ribbon: $3.00
- Paint Tape: You might be able to find this in your house
- Paint (any color, I used black): You might find this also in your house
- Scissors

. I spent time with my family. My baby nephews, my niece, and my soon-to-be-mommy sister :) These were special moments, times I definitely don't get when I am at school. Andrew and I got to spend a lot of time with each of our families. We even went on double dates with each of our siblings, score! And I got to snuggle with my pup, Charlie. He is just the sweetest little dog. Oh, and don't forget about Photo-booth...

Our family seriously just keeps growing,
my sister is due with her first any day now!!

6. Go see a new movie. Save some money by going to a Matinee show and have a date night with a friend! I saw Skyfall & The Hobbit... they were both AWESOME. Definitely worth seeing both in the theatre.

7. I worked out. Haha. Oh boy... something else I never do when I'm in school. For those of you who can manage a consistent work out schedule, I admire you and wish I had your discipline. Great way to release that stress from the semester, though.

8. I made GOALS for myself, and for my business! If you don't have a business to make goals for... that's okay! Make goals for yourself for this upcoming year. What do you want to get better at, more disciplined with? I love lists, so this is always a fun one for me.

9. Cookies, cookies, and more cookies. I ate them, and I baked them. Then I ate some more... so I had to bake more. These are my absolute favorite... find the recipe here!

10. I got things done that I have been working on for over a year.. like THIS BAD BOY!!! My website! Thanks to Alex at Otirb Productions for all of his help, together we built a website! Can't wait to show you guys. Get excited.

Overall, I would deem this a pretty successful Winter Break. It's one of my favorite times of the year between Christmas, New Years, and all of the family birthdays!! I hope you had an awesome Winter Break, too!
